3 Seasons

S.age O.regano B.asil
That's how I'll remember. If I start to call you Basil, we need to talk.

I'm going, I'm pretty sure. Although I think it would be cheaper (at the moment) to do it the other way around, I'm going. Because I already turned down one trip and I've regretted it ever since. And I dropped the ball with this particular friend, I think. She needed me and I wasn't there. Literally or figuratively. I need to be there. And. I miss New Mexico. Really, really miss it. Or, our people there.

I forget how long the adjustment process takes when you make a major life change. The humidity doesn't help. When you find the place you want to live, do you just know? Like you do when you fall in love with "the one"? Love at first sight? Or does it grow slowly? Is it a contentment that grows into love? It's always exciting and new at first. Then it gets a little bewildering as you find your niche. And eventually it starts to feel like home. But when do you really know that you aren't "home-less" even though you have a home? Or do people just settle for what they think is a pretty good option? It may be in part that we have gypsy souls, but we're not thinking that this is "it" for us. We're here for years, don't get me wrong. The option to move isn't in the near future. However, someday I'd like to find "it". Whatever "it" is.

Not much. What's going on with you?

Izzy says "pissy" instead of "pixie". Makes you look at this in a whole new way...
Sigh. My sis and her family left yesterday. Too short. We made this beautiful fruit salad with mint from my perennial gardens when she was here. I also have lemongrass. I need to try it in a Tuna Pasta salad, I think. Any suggestions for either? You can have some, if you want. The mint or lemongrass, that is. The salad is long gone.

I know she's stinkin' cute. You don't have to tell me. But you can, anyway.
She sits alone and pulls her self around everywhere these days. Life is getting a little easier with each stage she reaches...
My sister Aimers will be here in a few days. It's awesome to have a sister around. If only for a short time.
To join Zane on a trip to NM or not to? That is the question... He's driving. I could go with him, or fly at a later date. On the one hand, it would be wonderful to spend that time with him, but on the other- it would be quicker to fly. Hmmmm. What shall I do?

For my dear friend.

When we lived in NM, we happened upon one of life's greatest gifts. It came wrapped in the form of the S*****s family. When we count our blessings, they get counted twice. They were there for us. Selflessly. Unfailingly. To say we got lucky when we found them would be an understatement.
Not only is my friend Amy the world's best chef, she has a heart of gold. The problem is that even gold cracks when handed an unfair situation. I'm embarrassed to admit that I don't know the exact date that Amy needs extra love, but I know it is coming soon.
So here's for you, Amy. May you see a shooting star every time you look at the night sky. Sending lots of love and hugs.
Footprints In The Sand
One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene , he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonging to him, and the other to the Lord. When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life, that there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life. This really bothered him, and he questioned the Lord about it. " Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times of my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why, when I needed you most you would leave me".The Lord replied " My Son, My precious child. I Love You, and would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you".
His Journey's Just Begun
Don't think of him as gone away
his journey's just begun,
life holds so many facets
this earth is only one.
Just think of him as resting
from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days and years.
Think how he must be wishing
that we could know today
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.
And think of him as living
in the hearts of those he touched...
for nothing loved is ever lost
and he was loved so much.

Long live white flour and sassiness!

Everyone is taking a stand these days. So I must too.

Mine, the all important Chocolate Chip Cookie. And what goes into it.
People. Really. Do you eat a CCC for the health of it? NO! So don't be so cruel as to try healthify the darn things. Wheat flour? No. Cut back on the butter? No. Cut back on the sugar? You must be kidding- NO!! Don't even freakin' start with me. If you really want to eat something healthy, don't ruin a perfectly good cookie. Eat a carrot. Helloooooooo! It's like taking a little peace of perfection and turning it into sand. More annoying than sand in your swimsuit, is sand in your mouth. Blah. And if you must do something so ridiculous, don't try to pawn them off on others. We all know the "healthier" ones aren't worth the calories. I'd be P.O.ed if I died with a healthified morsel in my hand. But not if it was made the way it was meant to be...

So glad to get that off my chest. Now if only you would listen.

Like a cookie, to be perfect you must have a little bit of naughty in you. I like people with a bit of a 'tude. Edgy. All nice all the time is nice. Don't get me wrong. But it isn't fabulous. My fave friends and fave blogs are all a little spunky. I love them. You. And your spunk. Don't change a bit. Unless, of course, you make sand cookies.

Lawless

I took full advantage of a few kidless hours and I loaded up my Hardly into my super awesome minivan and headed to the local park. To be one with nature. Go ahead, laugh. I'm a self-proclaimed indoorsy girl. Really, I needed a change of scenery for pedaling.

After I unloaded the hog, I noticed a sign that said something along the lines of: "Anyone using anything with wheels on the trails needs to wear a helmet". I laughed in the face of danger and spit gravel at the sign. Helmetless. Heck yep. I'm a total reb.
After that totally liberating ride, I squealed into Target. I now rock a totally stylin' bike helmet. Give me some knucks.
