3 Seasons

S.age O.regano B.asil
That's how I'll remember. If I start to call you Basil, we need to talk.

I'm going, I'm pretty sure. Although I think it would be cheaper (at the moment) to do it the other way around, I'm going. Because I already turned down one trip and I've regretted it ever since. And I dropped the ball with this particular friend, I think. She needed me and I wasn't there. Literally or figuratively. I need to be there. And. I miss New Mexico. Really, really miss it. Or, our people there.

I forget how long the adjustment process takes when you make a major life change. The humidity doesn't help. When you find the place you want to live, do you just know? Like you do when you fall in love with "the one"? Love at first sight? Or does it grow slowly? Is it a contentment that grows into love? It's always exciting and new at first. Then it gets a little bewildering as you find your niche. And eventually it starts to feel like home. But when do you really know that you aren't "home-less" even though you have a home? Or do people just settle for what they think is a pretty good option? It may be in part that we have gypsy souls, but we're not thinking that this is "it" for us. We're here for years, don't get me wrong. The option to move isn't in the near future. However, someday I'd like to find "it". Whatever "it" is.

This is a question I've never had to answer. But...before I met my husband, I was planning to move to Finland, as long as they (the country) would have me. The first time I went there I was 20, I stepped off the plane, and knew I was home. I changed my major from El. Ed. at SCSU to Scandinavian Studies and Finnish Language at the U. I made 4 more trips, and fell more and more in love with my second home. I had a lot of solo time there, more than I was ever used to, and it was so peaceful in my heart section. That is how you know, when your heart feels satisfied without much at all.

Of course, then i switched gears again and went to beauty school. I was half way through when I met Habtamu. After about 6 weeks of dating I knew there wasn't hope for Finland in my future. I speak Finnish in my dreams, but it has been 10 years and I really can't speak it when I'm awake anymore.

It is exciting to know that there is at least one more stop on the quest to find home, where your heart speaks the language of your dreams.

You are good to go on the trip.

"That is how you know. When your heart feels satisfied without much at all." I'd bet anything that you are right. You are beautiful Jen, inside and out. Oh, how I love your words. Never stop sharing them.
"Where your heart speaks the language of your dreams." Beautiful.

I have no answer because I have never moved and would LOVE to. Let me know when you figure it out though:)

Can't wait to hear more about the trip.

A good thought provoking post. I wonder too, if there is an 'it'. Maybe it's just in a person's nature to crave adventure or maybe that fulfillment of 'it' will come with time and ties. I don't know. Let me know if you find 'it'. :)
