My big life moment

(I collect fabulous friends.)
When I was four I couldn't wait to turn five. Twelve, sixteen. Eighteen. Twenty. I didn't actually want to turn 25, but I did it anyway. (Such a good sport I am.) Unlike most people, I didn't dread 30. I never knew what the hype was. If you look at people in their 30's, they are all finally coming into their own. Comfy in their skin. Confident in their bodies, personalities, intelligence, beliefs. And I wasn't afraid of that. I woke up the other morning feeling like a kid again. It was my birthday! And I was so happy about it. I finally reached the milestone that I actually waited for. And it didn't disappoint. That's it, people! I actually am 30. For realsies. (Yeah, I might have been telling people I was when I actually wasn't.) What? It's not against the law. My twenties were good. They served a purpose. But I was over them. My life, I felt, was better suited for the 30 something crowd. What with my million and a half kids I have. But, I'm here. I made it. Bring on the fine lines and other beautiful signs of age. I'll just be sitting here waiting for the big 40. They know where to find me. I'm not scared.
Well, maybe a little.
*Just in case you were wondering: I actually spelled "intelligence" wrong- spell check caught it. heh.*

I hope the 40 something crowd doesn't scare you too bad so we can hang out...and besides, I'm still having babies like I belong in the 30 something crowd anyway;)

I'm happy to see you embracing age. I, on the other hand, seem to struggle with it. I know I need to get over it and I will. Eventually. Fine lines have arrived.

Mindi you have more energy than I did in my teens. You are just awesome. Tara....I do not believe fine lines for a second.

I get to turn the BIG 30 next month and I am not scared either. I think the 40 may be hard. We will have to see.

I hope you enjoyed your day!

Happy birthday, Mindi! I like that you're happy and ready to embrace your thirties. And I'm glad that I know you. :)

It does seem that the older we get, the more comfortable we are in our own skin and the easier it is to be individuals. Makes life much more interesting!

Hey! I clicked on a random link on Jenny's blog and what do you know. I'm here. I didn't realize you had un-privatized your blog. Is that a word? Regardless.

Anyway, happy birthday! I thought the same thing about the 30s and so far, they do not disappoint.
